Personal Development and Research Work

Welcome to my Research Work for Science Education.

You will be following my research over the next few months .I would like to share with you some of the learning activites .Teaching skills and PDP.Personal Development Portfolio.

I am in my 40's and have been writing Educational Programmes for over 6 years . This year  I continue with My Research  Publication  Programme in Good Old Great Britain. With one of the Top Universities .

I have A Degree In Science and A Certificate in Teaching in Further Education and A Doctorate In Science Education.

I left School with 3 Alevels and 5 Olevels.

Roles,Responsibilites and 'Goals'

My Role as a teacher can be shown with the evaluation of my class. This is best understood from the Observation Of A Class.

Clearly understood .The Class fully participated in the Q and A's. The lesson plans uses theory ,Q and A's with handouts constructed in a logical way to cover G.C.S.E .General Certificate Secondary Education Syllabus .With  very little experimentation apart from molecular kit boxes are used at this level.Practical is  limited .I have been covering in main all three Sciences.

Apart  from observations .There are field study courses,Teacher Training Days and Many Universities which encourage weekend courses during the Summer with Distance Learning Modules as well as Seminars.

Reading Educational Supplements .Different Societies offer continued courses .ie Royal Chemistry Society For Science Teachers .

In conclusion, the  observation is a necessary practice for the development and success of teaching for teachers. It gives you confidence  as well as  a firm foundation of what you are to the learners.

Evaluations Of Teaching

The Idea Of Self-Evaluation is the Reflection.Of one's teaching practice and how one may improve.I feel that this should be a continued aim in anyone's teaching career.Trying new ideas is a continuation of teaching .The learning environment must be  non-threatening and a place where awareness of the student's differences are being met.At all times with clear goals and with the use of appropriate methods.Where motivation can be achieved. The teacher's expertise can then reinforce the learning methods.Teaching is a most important role to maintian the learner's motivation at all times in the class and supportive and encourage in a positive way about a learner's future. They should also aim to promote optimism and encourage enthusiastic students and welcome new ideas from learners and praise their achievements.Remembering their names can promote a feeling of acceptance as well as showing you care by remembering them. This helps them maintain their confidenec and appropriate behaviour.

During my teaching I have learnt a great deal about educational thinking ! My vision of good practice.Would be " A State Of The Art Classroom".But for the time being teaching practice consists of  a variety of teaching aids making lessons plans interesting. The assessment of learning has been the most successful out of my teaching plan so far.allowing me to see progress in my learners. Teaching a practical subject. Communication and creating an educational environment with motivation has kept the learner interested .I have used different  teaching styles and have room for improvements with new ideas. I have  introduced various teaching aids to improve  interest and motivation. When learners have shown a shortage of concentration. I  have worked well with new ideas and developing further ideas in teaching Science.

"Evaluation is  a continuous cyclic process" (Petty.1998, page358) says Petty and I agree teaching is a continuing cycle and development to my teaching in the future. With increased teaching hours and a focus on improving standards of  motivation for learners.I would also aim  reinforcing the learning process.Anything that improves my teaching skills and that has an impact on the learning process.
